The End of the Beginning (really)

Question 1

I think that the the name "Powerless" for the first chapter was a good name. It makes perfect sense for this because he actually has no powers, and he is also powerless to defend himself from the bullies at his school. For the second chapter it's called Growing Pains, I think that this is a good name because of his spider powers that is causing him pain and making him freak out and break desks and stuff. The third chapter is called "Wannabe", I don't think that this is a good name because Peter isn't a "wannabe" wrestler, he's destroying the really good people. "With Great Power" is the name of the fourth chapter, this is an OK name because Peter is using his powers selfishly, so Uncle Ben ends up dying. It would have been better if they ended the name with "..." or "Comes Great Responsibility". "Life Lessons" is the name of the fifth chapter, I think that this works because Peter goes and gets revenge on the man who killed Uncle Ben. I think that Peter learns to help other people here and not be selfish. The sixth chapter is named "Big Time Super Hero", I think that this works because all of the newspaper people are into him trying to find out things about Spider-Man. The final chapters name is "Revelations/Secret Identity", I think that revelations works a little bit, but secret identity doesn't work at all. From looking at the definition of revelation, I think that the name would work because you're newly discovering what Harry's dad is like.

Question 2

I think that the main idea of this graphic novel is to introduce the reader to Spider-Man and the Ultimate Spider-Man graphic novel series. I think that it's this because when Harry's dad, in his mutated form slipped into the water, it seemed that he didn't die. Also, the graphic novel was quite short, it didn't seem like it could have been his whole story, and I know that there are many other books in the series (I think it's on the back of the front cover, or somewhere around there). I think that a moral from the story is to do what is right and not just what's good for you, for example with the robber that killed Uncle Ben, if Peter had stopped him earlier Uncle Ben wouldn't have died.

Question 3

I don't think that Peter has or should have the responsibility to help other just because he has superpowers, I think that he should just help them anyway. To make this clear of what I'm trying to say, think of this, if you're standing at a bank and someone pulls out a gun to rob the place, they're trying to get away but there's a child that is holding onto his leg and slowing him down so he turns around and is going to shoot it, but you have a gun as well and have more than enough time to pull it out and shoot him before he kills the child. It isn't you're responsibility to stop him from killing the innocent defenceless child, but if you can do it why wouldn't you? This is why I think it isn't Peter's responsibility to help people, but I still think that he should do it.

Question 4

I think that what makes someone a hero is what they have done. I think that to be a hero you would have to risk your life to save the lives of others. By saying this I don't mean that you have to run into the middle of a war and steal people away so that they don't die, I think that all you would need to do to be a hero in my eyes is on your way out of your burning house grab your pet/pets and take them out with you, but of course you'd be a better hero if you stole those soldiers! When someone thinks hero they usually would think superhero, but heroes are just ordinary people like you and me (unless there's something drastically in-human about you), and those are the people that our saving our world!

Chapters 4 and 5

Question1

Peter developed a molecular adhesive to give him webs! You could use that for a lot of things..... you could use it as an extremely awesome sticky glue, it could be used as the cables on suspension bridges. You could also use it as a safety net for trapeze artists, police could use it in pistols to catch criminals, you could use it to make a zipline across a valley on the fly (pun intended), it could be a new kind of rope, or people could use it as pretty much anything else that is stringy/sticky!

Question 2
There are so many things that you could do to improve superheroes. I would give Spider-Man laser vision, make him invulnerable, make him able to fly, have it so that he can manipulate time and matter at will, have him be able to write a graphic novel blogging assignment about himself in under 1.7935 seconds, and give him the power to eat everything in sight and not die, gain weight or have any health or mental problems whatsoever. There are so many things that you could add to any superhero to make them better, but unfortunately we can't expose all of them to vats of acid, radiation, super spiders, and other assorted things.

Question 3
I think that it would be terrible if everyone had the same powers as Spider-Man. First of all, I don't think that we could call them superpowers anymore because there would be nothing super special that one person would be able to do, also it's everybody that has them, so there would be gangs of villains terrorizing innocent people. Also, to look down a city street, all you would see is broken buildings because of everybody's strength and all of the thousands of webs strung across it would make it almost just a solid mass.

Beginning of the End (not really)

Question 1

When Peter went to get his money after the wrestling match, the manager finds that the cash box had been stolen. All of the wrestling guys go and surround him and are ready to go and seize him. Peter goes and runs away from the place and gets away. When he's heading back home there is a robbery at the deli, he gets in front of the guy, but then he let's him go and everybody is mad at him. If I were Peter at that time, I would have have just stopped him there and given the money to the deli people and be a nice person.

Question 2

I think that the author decided to have Peter picked on and bullied at the beginning of the book because it would be much more dramatic when he went from picked-on-kid to Spider Man with strength and webby goodness. If he had already been like a bully or someone strong and meanish, it wouldn't be as good and people wouldn't be as shocked and/or amazed when he got his spider powers. I completely agree with having the author do it like that, because I think that it greatly improves the storyline.

Question 3

If Peter were to tell Mary Jane that he liked her, anyhting could happen, but I think that they would get together because from reading the graphic novel, it seems that she really likes him. If they were to get together though I'm not shure how well it would go because Peter would be running around the city being Spider-Man almost all the time so they wouldn't have very much time together. Also, they could be sitting in a restaurant and Peter could hear a radio message from a police officer sitting near them and he could go running off on Mary Jane in the middle of their meal. So if he were to tell her that he liked her, it probobly wouldn't go so well.
